SYRACUSE The Our Lady of Lourdes High School football team lost to South Park of Buffalo, 49-46 at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Class A championship game.

In the fourth quarter, South Park leads Lourdes, 49-46.

The teams were scoreless at 0-0 at the end of the first quarter. South Park’s Daryl Moore scored twice in the second quarter on receptions of 40 and 52 yards. The Sparks made both two-point conversions. South Park’s Tyree Brown scored on a 63-yard touchdown run to put South Park up 22-6.

Lourdes’ Luke Timm scored on a 28-yard pass from Dean Rotger to cut South Park’s lead to 22-12. Lourdes’ Joe Scaglione scored on a 4-yard run early in the second quarter to put Lourdes up 6-0, but the Warriors missed the extra point. With just over 2 minutes left in the first half, Brown scored on a 27-yard run to put South Park up 29-12.

Lourdes scored first in the second half, with Rotger barreling his way into the end zone on a 2-yard run, set up by a 47-yard completion to Timm. Timm scored on a reception from Rotger midway through the third quarter which, coupled with a two-point conversion brought the score to 29-26. Brown scored on a 38-yard run to put South Park 35-26. Scaglione scored on a 3-yard run with 2:04 left in the third to pull Lourdes within three points. Dave Thomas scored on a 48-yard touchdown run which, combined with a two-point conversion gave South Park a 43-32 lead.

Rotger’s 10-yard run on a quarterback draw pulled Lourdes to within 43-38 in the fourth quarter and Corey Mullaly scored a two-point conversion to make it 43-40. South Park answered back as Brown scored on a 42-yard run with 9:09 left to put South Park up 49-40. Timm scored on a 7-yard reception with 2:53 left to make it 49-46.
