Since her playing days on the basketball court came to an end, Liz Flooks has surrounded herself with the game as a coach at both the high school and collegiate levels. Flooks will now take on a greater responsibility at the Division I level after being named the New Jersey Institute of Technology’s Director of Women’s Basketball Operations on Tuesday.
The Highlanders, formerly an independent D-I program, recently gained notoriety after joining the Atlantic Sun Conference in June. NJIT as a school grabbed headlines after its men’s basketball team stunned 17th-ranked Michigan on the road in December, when many became informed of the school’s independent status.
Flooks enjoyed an illustrious career at White Plains, winning three consecutive Section 1 Class AA championships from 2005-07 and joining the 1,000-point club before returning to her alma mater in 2012-13 to coach the Tigers.
Flooks left White Plains to take an assistant coaching position at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, where she stayed until joining the NJIT staff.
