Behind Abby Norris’ three RBIs, LAMP defeated St. James 12-1 on Thursday at Lagoon Park and claimed the Class 4A, Area 4 title, the first area championship in school history.

Taylor Cassidy gave up three hits, one a Hannah Dailey home run, over five innings for the Golden Tigers. Haley Davis and Jessie Norris knocked in two runs each.

Both LAMP (34-4) and St. James (10-21-1) play in next week’s Class 4A South Regional in Gulf Shores.

Earlier Thursday, St. James beat Catholic 2-1. Mary Villageois had the only RBI for the Trojans, who had just three hits. Savannah Phillips was the winning pitcher.

PCA best in 3A, Area 5

Hayden Law gave up no earned runs over five innings for the victory. Law, Kathryn Fallen and Arianna Atchley had two RBIs each.

The Panthers (31-10) and Beulah both advance to next week’s South Central Regional in Troy.

Earlier Thursday, PCA reached the finals with a 9-1 win over Beulah. Ashley Shultz had three RBIs and Carolyn Carter clubbed a two-run homer.

Indians unbeaten in area

Lauren Lett picked up her 15th victory for Wetumpka, which plays either Stanhope or G.W. Carver at 4 p.m. today. Stanhope and Carver play at 2 p.m.

Savannah Reaves’ nine-strikeout perfect game led Wetumpka in a 15-0 win over Park Crossing in the tournament opener. Destinee Brewer and Laken Watson had two RBIs each.

Amanda Ingram’s complete game led Stanhope Elmore in a 4-3 first-round win over G.W. Carver. Carver rebounded to beat Park Crossing in an elimination game.

ACA rolls into finals

Caitlin Perry’s one-hit, 14-strikeout gem helped Alabama Christian reach the Class 5A, Area 4 finals with a 4-0 win over Beauregard.

Laura Nickolson’s two-run single started the scoring in the third inning. Alex Cone and Shelbie Horne knocked in runs in the fourth.

The Eagles (31-12-3) and Beauregard play again at 1 p.m. today at ACA in the championship round. Both teams have qualified for the South Regional.

Beauregard opened with a 10-0 win over Tallassee and, after losing to ACA, beat the Tigers 8-0 to reach the finals. Bailie Barnes threw two shutouts. Camry Blackmon homered in the first game and Kendall Tucker hit a three-run homer in the six-run first inning of the second.

Watson powers Lions

The Lions (27-6) beat Robert E. Lee 16-1 and Enterprise 11-2 to reach the finals, which begin at 3 p.m. today. Emma Hindi and Taylor Adams were the winning pitchers.

Opp takes area crown

Chatham struck out five and also was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored. The Bobcats (22-12-1) won their second area title in three years.

Opp also beat T.R. Miller 3-0 in its tournament opener. Anna Harrelson gave up one hit over five innings and Paige Johnson had an RBI.

Both the Bobcats and Tigers play in next week’s 3A South Regional in Gulf Shores.

Jack Charleston’s 62/3 innings included one run on four hits and 10 strikeouts for the Eagles (44-12) in the SSAC tournament at Paterson Field. Robert Llera had four RBIs. Llera, Cody Sos and Greg Howard homered. Faulkner plays again at 4 p.m. today.

AUM 9,

Mobile 3

Matt Miller and Josh Thompson each had two RBIs for the Warhawks (38-16) in the SSAC tournament. Tremayne Hardin had two runs scored and an RBI.

Raymond Moody (4-3) gave up a run on five hits and struck out two in 5 2/3 innings.

AUM plays at 7 p.m. today.
