Dani Valdez scored the winner off a pass from Julia Schlottmann in the 69th minute as host Our Lady of Lourdes High School edged Brewster, 2-1, in girls soccer on Wednesday.
Schlottmann’s goal off a free kick in the 57th minute had tied it at 1.
Kayla Moschetti made six saves in the win. Sweeper Amy Zale, stopper Marguerite McGahay and outside back Kelly Keenan anchored the defense for the Warriors.
Arlington B 3, Clarkstown North 1 — Claire Kirkus, off an assist from Kaylee Sturams, scored to give the visitingAdmirals a 2-1 lead. Kirkus later assisted a goal from captain Alyssa Burnell. Alexa Peruffo scored Arlington’s first goal in the first minute. The Admirals (1-0) visit Yorktown at 4:15 p.m. Thursday.
Highland 3, Marlboro 2 — Danielle McGrath scored in the 29th minute to give Highland a 3-0 lead. Michaela Raffaele scored twice and McGrath and Teresa Mazzella each added an assist. Tori Capobianco made seven saves for Highland (1-0).
Nyack 3, Haldane 2 — Bailey McCollum scored two unassisted goals in the host Blue Devils’ loss. Goalie Sara Labriola made six saves for Haldane, which visits Lakeland on Sept. 8.
Wallkill 6, Franklin D. Roosevelt 0 — In their season opener, the Presidents lost on the road.
Onteora 3, Dover 2 — The host Dragons received goals from Abbey Wood and Krista Caione, although Dover lost in double overtime. Goalie Honesti Crochan made eight saves for Dover (0-1).
Clara Lombardo had 26 assists, nine digs, five kills and two aces to lead Pawling over host Brewster, 25-19, 25-15, 25-19, on Wednesday.
Jaclyn Smith added 13 kills, seven aces, five digs and a block, and Elsie Martin had five kills and eight digs.
“Jaclyn actually rolled her ankle on the first play of the second set and played the rest of the way,” Tigers coach Jessica Pulford said of her hitter. “She had nine kills in the first set and that was incredible. The team rallied around her and played very well, and Clara really stepped up and was wonderful… We don’t play again until (Sept. 11) against Haldane, so she’ll have time to rest and heal.”
Webutuck 3, Onteora 1 — Maya-K Johnson had 10 aces, three kills and two blocks to lead host Webutuck in a 20-25, 25-15, 25-12, 25-22 win. Aliyah Caldas added four aces and a kill, Emily Tanner had two kills and Sammy Wolfe had two aces for Webutuck (1-2).
Poughkeepsie 3, Highland 1 — Genise Wilson had five kills and four aces to lead Poughkeepsie in a 12-25, 25-15, 25-10, 25-17 win. Winasia Graham added nine aces, Brianna Palmer had three kills and six aces, and Kayla West had five aces for the Pioneers (1-1). Highland’s JudyAnn Regi had 10 aces, two kills, a dig and an assist, Rachael Omeok had two aces and a kill, Jonna Watkins had six assists, Taylor Sarino had six kills.
Marlboro 3, Rhinebeck 0 — The host Iron Dukes defeated Rhinebeck, 25-20, 25-18, 25-23. Alicia Acosta had 14 assists for Rhinebeck and Mikaela Holt had eight digs and six kills.
Haldane 3, John Jay 1 — Haldane defeated John Jay, 22-25, 25-12, 25-23, 25-19. John Jay’s Kirsten Zier had six kills and 15 digs and Maddie Barbaran had six kills and 17 digs, and middle hitter Samantha Fitzgerald, playing middle back for the first time, had 20 digs.
Pine Plains 3, Dover 1 — Ashley Starzyk had one ace, four kills, two assists and three blocks, as the host Bombers beat Dover 25-17, 25-20, 17-25, 25-20. Teammates Alyssa Boyles (four aces, two kills, 12 assists), Anna Lonczak (three aces, two kills, nine digs) and Michaella Lamont (four aces, four kills, two assists, two digs) also contributed.
Dover was paced by Arianna Ball’s three kills, eight assists and two digs. Tara Begor (one ace, three kills), and Samantha Annunziata (one ace, four kills, two digs) chipped in.
Pine Plains (1-1) hosts Poughkeepsie at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Dover visits Red Hook at 5:45 p.m. Thursday.
Red Hook 3, New Paltz 1 — Mary MacHugh had 10 kills, Morgan Schultz recorded 14 assists and five aces and Abby Carney had six kills and three blocks, as the Raiders won 22-25, 25-22, 25-18, 25-22 on the road.
Kelly Brinkman had 12 kills, 12 digs, two blocks for New Paltz. Teammate Morgan Cozzolino added eight assists.
The Huguenots (1-1) visit Marlboro at 5:45 p.m. Thursday. Red Hook (2-0) hosts Dover Thursday, also at 5:45 p.m.
Ossining 3, Roy C. Ketcham 0 — Courtney Novick had three kills and two digs, while Danielle Kauffman had three digs, but the host Indians lost, 25-13, 25-5, 25-7.
Mahopac defeated Arlington B 2-1. Connor Bruyn scored to give Arlington B a 1-0 lead in the first half, but Mahopac answered with two goals in the second half in a game played at Yorktown,. Andrew Markoe, Mike Vanikiotis and Scott Brennan also played well offensively for the Admirals, according to coach Erik Zeyher.
Spackenkill 5, Saugerties 0 — Sarah McCall defeated Tessa Stanley, 6-0, 6-1, in first singles to lead Spackenkill (1-0). Cynthia Ma and Rachel Li also won at singles. Charlotte Katz and Madison Myers beat Mia Pederson and Allison Byrne, 6-0, 6-1, at first doubles. Kourtney Kowalski and Leona Lau won second doubles.
