Julia Butts scored off a pass from Taylor Edmundson to put Webutuck High School on the board 7:15 into the first half and the Warriors went on to beat Pine Plains, 3-0, in field hockey on Thursday.
Sophia Caldas scored unassisted to make it 2-0 with 2:17 left before halftime, and Bella Tomasetti added a goal early in the second half. Sophia Tomasetti made two saves in the shutout as Webutuck defeated Pine Plains, the defending Section 9 Class C championship in a rematch of last year’s final.
At second singles, Cynthia Ma beat Grace Messenger, 6-0, 6-1, at second singles as visiting Spackenkill defeated Marlboro, 4-1.
Rachel Li beat Michaela Kulpinski, 6-1, 6-3, in third singles for the Spartans (2-0). Madison Myers and Charlotte Katz topped Mandi Ross and Brittany DeSantis, 7-5, 6-3. Kourtney Kowalski and Leona Lau beat Adriana Vacante and Julie Truncali, 6-3, 6-4.
Marlboro’s Emma Messenger earned a 6-3, 7-5, win at first singles.
Spackenkill beat Saugerties, 5-0, late Wednesday, and will host Saugerties again on Wednesday.
Stanley Garrant made two birdies and six pars at par-36 McCann Memorial Golf Course, helping lead Spackenkill to a 155-209 win over John A. Coleman Catholic.
Garrant shot a 35 and teammate Erik Stauderman carded a 37. Stauderman had one birdie and seven pars. Ryan Ackert shot a 40 and made five pars. Spackenkill (4-0) hosts Dover on Tuesday.
