Coach — Jonathan Weinstein

How many years have you been coaching with your current team? This will be my second season.

What was your final record last season and where did you finish in the playoffs? 7-9-1. We were knocked out in the first round of Class B sectionals.

Who are your key returning players? Seniors striker Dylan Capshaw and defenders Declan Thornton and Brandon Ferguson.

Who are the key players that you lost to graduation? Connor Thoman, our center middie, and GK Peter Dinger.

Did you gain or lose any players from the U.S. Academy system? No.

What do you consider to be your team’s strengths? Very strong defensively. Not a ton of size but a high level of game intelligence.

What are some areas of concern? We are a young squad without much size. Sometimes our skill is thwarted simply due to physicality on the ball.

Who is the most skilled offensive player on your team? Dylan Capshaw and Lorenzo Auslander.

The best defender? Imanol Herrero, Declan Thornton, Josh Holder.

The fastest? Lorenzo Auslander.

The biggest hustler? Dylan Capshaw, Matt Adler, Josh Holder. All three are amazing work horses.

Which team is your biggest rival(s)? Probably Briarcliff given proximity. We beat them once last season for the first time in many years, but they knocked us out in sectionals.

Up next: North Salem

I’ll be posting at least one of these per day leading up to the start of the high school season in early September. Coaches, if you did not receive a capsule email and would like to participate, please fill out the questions below and send them to me at vmercoglia@lohud.com.
