The Viola Longhorns continued cruising through their 1A-2 North Conference slate, picking up a victory over Mammoth Spring on Tuesday and an easy win over Calico Rock on Wednesday.
Viola hammered Calico Rock 16-0 in six innings at Earl King Memorial Park, with Dalton Lund tossing six, one-hit innings on the mound. The right-hander struck out 10 and walked three in earning the win.
Ryne Browning went 4 for 4 with three doubles and three RBI to lead Viola (15-1, 6-0) at the plate, while Brody Ninemire went 1 for 4 with a grand slam and four RBI.
Lund, Trevor Himschoot, and Lane Guffey supplied three hits apiece, while Keagen Dunn was 2 for 2 with an RBI and two runs scored for the Longhorns, who pounded out 19 hits in the contest.
Viola earned a 10-4 win at Mammoth Spring as Guffey allowed eight walks and five hits, but picked up the victory, striking out five and allowing just four earned runs over 51/3 innings.
Steffahn Smith struck out two and did not allow a hit or a walk over 12/3 innings in relief.
Ninemire was 2 for 3, clubbing a home run and three RBI and scoring two runs. Joey Prinner was 2 for 5 with a double and two RBI, Himschoot added two hits and two RBI, Guffey totaled one hit and two RBI, Lund notched two hits, and Browning, Smith and Corby May added one hit each for Viola.
Collin Powell allowed 10 hits and eight earned runs over three innings for Mammoth Spring in the loss, while Logan Skaggs pitched the last four frames, allowing two hits and two runs with five walks.
Viola will face Izard County in another 1A-2 North Conference game on Monday.
