Byrd’s Chad Lott and Lakeview’s Tivonte Hardy headlined the All-City and All-Area basketball teams announced Sunday.
The Times picked first and second teams for each All-City and All-Area.
North Caddo’s Ron Meikle and Natchitoches Central’s Micah Coleman are the All-City and All-Area coaches of the year, respectively.
All-City players hailed from Caddo and Bossier parishes while All-Area players are from the surrounding parishes in The Times circulation area.
The Times used coaches nominations, stats, all-district teams and personal observations in selecting the teams.
Player of the Year
Lott was a do-it-all guard as he led the Yellow Jackets to the Top 28, the program’s first since 1997. Lott averaged 23 points and 12 rebounds, but at a bulky 6-foot-2, he also guarded the opponent’s biggest player. Lott is a Division I target.
Coach of the Year
Meikle credits former Northwood coach Larry Bagley with him coming to North Caddo, but it was Meikle who rebuilt the Rebels. He’s guided North Caddo to two Top 28 appearances in Class 2A – the first as a No. 28 seed after a 3-15 start and the second as a No. 5 seed, finishing with a 26-4 record. The Rebels have just two other Top 28 appearances in program history (1966 and 1969).

Hardy is a Division I target.
Coach of the Year
Micah Coleman, Natchitoches Central
Some say its harder to get back to a second title game than win the first one. Yes, the Chiefs returned nearly all of their key pieces from the 2014 Class 5A champions, but Coleman kept this talented bunch motivated as NCHS (32-3) made it back to the title game, losing to Scotlandville.
