According to coach Tom Povall, there was absolutely “zero quit” in the Pine Plains/Rhinebeck football team Friday.
Povall admitted his team made mistakes in its 48-0 loss to Burke, but “played their butts off.”
“Every one of Burke’s injured players came back, and you can see why they are what they are,” Povall said.
Pat Mitchell recorded 120 yards, which brings him to over 1,000 yards for the season — and according to Povall, “that’s the first time in a long time we’ve had over a 1,000-yard runner… and that’s a great effort, 100 yards on Burke.”
Povall also credited his offensive line for playing well and not giving up.
“But Burke is back to being Burke,” he said. “They’re every bit as good as advertised.”
Nevertheless, the Bombers (3-4) can hold their heads high, as there’s something to be said about putting up a good fight and not submitting, no matter the circumstance.
“And as a coach, that’s all you can ask for,” Povall said.
