Dansville quarterback Clay Soule and receiver Carter Frantz have a good history together.
Last season, on the Aggies’ junior varsity team, Frantz was the beneficiary of 16 passing touchdowns from Soule. So, in the third quarter of Dansville’s 40-27 victory over Fulton last week, the junior quarterback had no doubts his sophomore weapon would come down with his throw to the corner of the end zone.
The leaping grab was voted the LSJ prep video of the week.
“If I need him, I know he’s there,” Soule said of Frantz.
“I felt one cornerback behind me, and I knew he didn’t really have a play on the ball,” Frantz said. “I just tried to go up and get it. Fortunately, I did grab it.”
The Aggies are out to a 3-0 start for the second consecutive season — the first time the program has done that since 1965-66. Dansville will look to move to 4-0 in Friday’s conference matchup against unbeaten Pewamo-Westphalia. And not only have the Aggies failed to start a year 4-0 since 1992, but they haven’t beaten the Pirates in the eight games played between the two CMAC teams.
The players are hoping to put a stop to both streaks.
“We have crazy high standards as a team, and I think that sets a base for the younger kids coming up,” Frantz said. “Even the freshmen and the sophomores, they have high standards. It really is a recipe for success.”
