Badin standout soccer player Malia Berkely received another invitation to play with the United States U-18 national team and will participate in a training camp in Mexico City Aug. 8-16.
Malia Berkely will be in Mexico City later this month as part of the United States U-18 training camp.
Berkely, a Florida State commit, will participate with the U.S. team that plays the Mexico U-20 team this month.
“I’m really excited,” Berkely said in a school release. “This is my first international trip with the national team and I can’t wait.”
Berkely had helped lead Badin to back-to-back Division III state girls’ soccer titles in Ohio. She has 51 goals and 31 assists for Badin the past three years.
She will be a defender with the U.S. team.
“As long as I’m on the field, I’m OK with that,” Berkely said. “I think I was recruited for my offensive skills but the national team is looking for people to attack out of the back. So I play on the outside and can get forward into the offense from there.”
