Elite players give their best sales pitches for Malik Newman to join them

By

Callaway (Jackson, Miss.) combo guard Malik Newman will end the suspense of where he’ll play in college Friday at 1 p.m. ET.

Newman, the top ranked guard in the ESPN 100 and an American Family Insurance ALL-USA first-team selection, will decide between Kentucky, Ole Miss, Kansas, LSU, Mississippi State and N.C. State.

But first he’ll need some coaxing.

Check out Newman’s video below then read the sales pitches from players already committed to some of the schools he’s considering.

Before Malik Newman (@iammaliknewman) makes his decision Fri he's fielding sales pitches from his friends who want him to join them.

The Kansas Sell

Carlton Bragg, Villa Angela-St. Joseph (Cleveland, Ohio), F, 2015

“OK, Malik I’ve been texting you all day anyway but check it out our fan base is crazy, we’re going to Europe in the preseason and how many teams can say that? Plus, we’ve got Coach Self, the best coach in the country, and he let’s you play your game and be you on the court. Oh and the girls! We’ve got all the girls you could want! And what’s better than playing at the Fieldhouse? I mean c’mon now!”

The Kentucky Sell

Charles Matthews, Saint Rita (Chicago), SG, 2015

“Malik, check it out man, come to Kentucky and dominate, win a national championship and handle your business. We’ve got the best fan base in the country and that speaks for itself. You can just hashtag #BBN and your Twitter will start going crazy. We’ve got the best coach in the country, the best assistant coaches in the country and everybody buys in to what we’re doing. I heard you rap too; and you know Coach is tight with Drake so y’all could probably get some studio time or something! Let’s get it!”

Isaiah Briscoe, Roselle Catholic (Roselle, N.J.), PG, 2015

“I don’t even do stuff like this, for real, but Malik, at the end of the day you’re gonna be my boy because our friendship is bigger than basketball. Having said that, first, it’s a fact that if you’re a Top 25 player under Coach Cal the chances of you going to the NBA are 100 percent. That speaks for itself. Coach Cal puts you on the biggest stage in college basketball. He doesn’t hold his horses back either; if you can play he’s gonna let you play. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of that? When you’re on that Kentucky stage it’s another level… Period.”

The Mississippi State Sell

Quinndary Weatherspoon, Velma Jackson (Camden, Miss.), SG, 2015

“Malik, you should come to State because I feel like we can do big things and plus your dad graduated from State! We’ve got good chemistry and we talk everyday anyway so it would make sense. We’ve got all the girls too! We could do it big at State.”

The LSU Sell

Ben Simmons, Montverde (Montverde, Fla.), F, 2015

“Malik, I definitely think that you should come to LSU because you’d be coming to a school that will be changing the whole SEC Conference and will be looked at as the next big thing in the SEC. I know you want to be different and create your own legacy because you’re that type of guy; coming to LSU will help you create your own legacy. I feel like we can win a national championship together.”

Antonio Blakeney, Oak Ridge (Orlando, Fla.), SG, 2015

“Malik, you should come play at LSU because it’s the perfect opportunity for you to come in and make an impact right away. You’ll play with great players, grow a lot and accomplish your goals! We all want to win a national championship and I feel like you coming here with me and Ben will give you the best opportunity to do that. They’ve already got a bunch of great players and we’ll all come in and add to that. We’ll learn from the veterans that they already have so that will make us a lot stronger.”

The Ole Miss Sell

Terence Davis, Southaven (Southaven, Miss.), SG, 2015

“Malik, check it out man this is your man Terence, come on to Rebel Nation because we’re gonna take this SEC title. Let’s show them that Mississippi does have talent and we can do big things. I think with you we have a real shot at winning a national title. This is the best place you can be in college, no doubt! And you already know after the games The Grove is unexplainable! It’s where everyone goes after games and it’s the place to be! That could be us just living the life all next season.”
