JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Brianna Bennett drove in a run for Mandarin in the first inning of their win over University on Thursday night in a regional quarterfinal playoff game. That one was all the Mustangs needed because Mackenzie Kern pitched a complete game shut out.
With Mandarin still leading 1-0 in the 6th inning, Kendall Reid blasted a 2-run home run to center field to give the Mustangs a couple insurance runs. The home run was Reid’s 14th of the season which is the most in the Jacksonville area. She also leads the area in RBI, and her batting average is among the area’s leaders as well.
Mandarin defeated University 3-0. They will play Oviedo Hagerty in the regional semifinals on Tuesday.
