How do we know that spring is here? Because baseball is in the air, and it is leading to some riveting season openers.
Case-in-point: The first start in South Hadley’s new varsity baseball season was a no-hitter, from a pitcher who had never taking the varsity hill in a starting role before.
South Hadley went with junior pitcher Alex Dragon, who shut down the Mahar Regional offense throughout the program’s 10-0 win. In fact, Dragon did more than just take care of business when in a crunch; he tossed a no-hitter.
You can see video of Dragon’s handiwork on the mound. It was good enough to keep Mahar off the basepaths, and good enough to give Dragon ample motivation to deliver results.
He did that in spades in his very first time on the mound.
