Monday’s matchup between the Miami Marlins and Braves in Atlanta may be just another National League East game to a lot of people.
Those people are not associated with Roberson baseball.
Narveson (1-1, 7.04 earned run average) is slated to be the starting pitcher for Miami in the 7:10 p.m. game at Turner Field. The left-hander graduated from Roberson in 2000.
Cameron Maybin, a 2005 Rams graduate, starts in the outfield for the Braves.
They are the only two Western North Carolina alums currently active in Major League Baseball. Narveson was called up by the Marlins in time to make a relief appearance in the last series between Atlanta and Miami (Aug. 6-9 at Turner Field), but he did not face Maybin.
