Mayfield City Schools announced in a news release on Thursday afternoon that head football coach Larry Pinto plans to retire from his position as a health and physical education teacher at the high school at the end of the 2014-15 school year, but will remain as the Wildcats’ gridiron leader next season.

Pinto, who owns a 127-32 record in his 17-year tenure at Mayfield, guided the Wildcats to two 12 wins and an appearance in a Division II state tournament semifinal contest in 2014.

Pinto began his teaching career in Mayfield in 1990.
