West Muskingum’s Drew McKenzie hit a walk-off grand slam, capping a nine-run seventh inning, in a 10-6 win over Sheridan in the Muskingum Valley League on Wednesday.

The game was tied at 1 entering the sixth, as Dylan Dupler’s two-run double highlighted a four-run sixth for the Generals (11-9, 7-5).

Trailing 6-1 in the seventh, the Tornadoes opened the inning with three straight singles. After a fielder’s choice scored a run, Alex Lynch singled home two, Parker Cordial had a RBI single and Zach Swendryck drew a bases-loaded walk to tie it at 6.

Nick Hart earned the win in relief, allowing one run on one hit in 1 1/3 innings, while starter Phelan Shutts was charged with five runs on five hits with six strikeouts and three walks in 5 2/3 innings.

McKenzie finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored, Jake Adlesic had two singles and two runs scored and Seth Mirgon hit a double for the Tornadoes (8-9, 4-7).

Hunter Hardy took the loss, allowing seven runs on nine hits with four strikeouts and one walk in 6 1/3 innings, Mike Gittings gave up the grand slam and Andrew Paxton had two hits for the Generals.
