Ashley Merritt scored her 1,000th career point and had a game-high 21 points and added nine rebounds as the visiting Franklin D. Roosevelt High School girls basketball team beat Red Hook 59-47 on Tuesday.
“In true Ashley Merritt fashion, she had three assists before she scored a single point,” said Roosevelt head coach Cliff Sauer. “She is a premiere passer, she plays very unselfish basketball and it was nice to see her come out and get her 1,000th point.”
Teammate Allison Pritchard, who reached 1,000 career points on Feb. 6 in a 101-69 win over New Paltz, added 13 points for Roosevelt.
“We came out a little flat in the first quarter,” Sauer said. “But we shared the ball well.”
Jessica Wilkinson had 16 points and 10 rebounds for Red Hook. Kalie Harrison and Shannon Yearwood added 10 points apiece for the Raiders.
Roosevelt (12-4) visits New Paltz at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 24. Red Hook hosts Onteora at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
