Mountain Home’s junior high football teams split a pair of games against rival Harrison on Thursday night, with the Eighth Grade Bombers taking a 26-16 victory.
Will Gross got the eighth-graders on the board with a 2-yard touchdown run, and he also added the 2-point conversion. After Harrison knotted the score, Eric Pederson tossed a 20-yard touchdown pass to James Swartz to give Mountain Home a 14-8 lead at halftime.
Pederson broke free for a 65-yard touchdown run in the second half, and Stephen Litty later added a 40-yard touchdown run to push the lead to 26-8. The Eighth Grade Bombers now are 5-0 against eighth-grade teams and face El Dorado at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Maumelle.
The Junior Bombers fell 36-16 to the Junior Goblins, with Jordan Anderson and Junior Williams each scoring touchdowns for Mountain Home. The score was tied 8-8 after one quarter, but Harrison led 16-8 at the half and 23-8 in the third.
The Junior Bombers also meet El Dorado at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Maumelle.
