THE WINNER: Connor Olson

THE BASICS

School: Wayzata (Plymouth, Minn.)
Grade: Senior
Height: 5-foot-10
Weight: 145 pounds

Athletic achievement: He raced to the Class AA individual state championship this past season with a time of 15:17.1, leading the Trojans to a state title as a team. The state’s returning Gatorade Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year, Olson took seventh place at the Nike Cross Nationals Heartland Regional championships, crossing the line in 15:18.2. He went on to compete at the NXN Final where he finished 12th in 15:39, earning All-American honors.

Academic excellence: Olson has maintained an A-minus average.

Exemplary character: He has volunteered locally on behalf of multiple charity road races in addition to donating his time building and maintaining woodchip walking and running trails in his community.

THE PRAISE

He respects his sport, his talent, his teammates and his opponents. His commitment to excellence is obvious and carries over to the classroom, the workplace, and his community.”
