California has a new home run queen in softball.
Arizona-bound slugger Alyssa Palomino hit her 12th and 13th of the season Thursday to become the state’s career record holder with 55 for her career.
Palomino, from Super 25 No. 1 team Mission Viejo, entered the game against El Toro tied with with Crescenta Valley of La Crescenta’s Baillie Kirker (2006-09), Carson’s Darian Tautalafua (2009-12) and Crenshaw of LA’s Alia Williams (2006-09).
“It’s been an incredible journey to this point and I would not have been able to do it without the support of my team and my family!” Palomino told the Orange County Register via Twitter. “They Push me to be better and I play for them! The support I have is incredible! And I’d like to give a shout out to the baseball team who are our No. 1 supporters! They are awesome!!”
