Moeller senior TE Jake Hausmann (Ohio State) and Elder OL Tommy Kraemer (Notre Dame) are participating in The Opening on Nike’s campus in Beaverton, Ore., this week.
Moeller football coach John Rodenberg is one of the coaches during this week’s events. Multiple former NFL players are also attending.
“It’s an unbelievable experience,” Rodenberg told Cincinnati.com by phone. “There are 166 of the top players in the country here.”
The Opening started on Tuesday and players go through testing such as vertical jump, 40-yard dash and the shuttle run. At night, players receive life skills and social media lessons from others.
“I’m real impressed by the organization of the event,” Rodenberg said.
Games are scheduled for Thursday. Rodenberg tweeted a photo of Hausmann’s helmet earlier today.

“I think he likes it a lot,” Rodenberg said. Hausmann is listed as the nation’s No. 3 tight end, according to the event.
Rodenberg said he’s also been very impressed with Kraemer and said this event gives him a new perspective on the Panthers standout than what he normally sees on the high school sidelines during an Ohio game.
“He’s the real deal,” Rodenberg said.
