After a long run at Freedom Hall, the St. Xavier-Trinity high school basketball rivalry is moving to Broadbent Arena this year.
The Shamrocks (9-3) – No. 1 in the state in The Courier-Journal’s Litkenhous Ratings – will face the Tigers (8-5) at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Broadbent.
The rivals’ regular-season game had been played at Freedom Hall since 2004, but Trinity athletic director Rob Saxton wrote in an email to The C-J that the schools were forced to look elsewhere because of a Monster Jam trucks event scheduled at the arena this weekend.
“This weekend is the place on the basketball schedules that made the most sense,” Saxton wrote. “So we have worked closely with the staff at the Fair and Expo Center and look forward to having a wonderful experience in Broadbent Arena.”
Tickets for the game will be $10 and $8. Parking is $8.
