Montverde (Fla.) Academy, which finished last season as the top team in the Super 25 boys basketball rankings, is back on top.
The Eagles are 4-0 to start the season, including two wins over ranked teams. Montverde defeated then-No. 10 Wheeler (Marietta) 76-70 two weeks ago and on Monday, took down then-No. 4 Huntington (W.Va.) Prep 63-59 as Simi Shittu had nine points and 21 rebounds.
With their strong start, Montverde passed former No. 1 Findlay Prep (Henderson, Nev.), which is 8-0 but has yet to play a ranked team.
There are two new teams in the rankings: No. 10 Detroit Jesuit, which opened its season with an impressive 65-61 defeat of Morgan Park (Chicago) as Cassius Winston had 26 points; and No. 25 Garfield (Seattle), which is 1-0 after defeating Nathan Hale (Seattle) 96-46 behind a 20-point game by Alphonso Anderson.
