MOORESVILLE, N.C. — The Mooresville Blue Devils won a thriller against West Iredell Friday, using 24 fourth-quarter points to rally for a 59-54 victory.

The Blue Devils got the best of the visiting Warriors in an ugly first quarter, leading 12-7 after one. In the second, both teams started a back-and-forth contest that was more than worth the price of admission for the Mooresville crowd. At the half, Mooresville led 24-19.

West Iredell found its offensive groove in the third quarter, scoring a game-high 21 points in the period. Mooresville’s offense struggled in the third, scoring only 11 points, allowing West Iredell to take a 40-35 lead into the fourth quarter. That’s when the Blue Devils took charge and earned the victory, outscoring West Iredell 24-14 in the final frame.

West Iredell’s Andrew Warren scored a game-high 13 points in the loss, while Mooresville was led by a pair of 12-point scorers in TJ Daniels and Jordan Vanderburg. Warren also led the game with a game-high 8 rebounds.

The Blue Devils (4-1 NPC) return to action January 16 when they visit South Iredell. West Iredell (0-5 NPC) will hit the road in search of its first conference win Friday, when they visit Alexander Central.
