Shadyside defeated Morristown-Beard, 3-2 in overtime, to win the WIHLMA championship on Monday afternoon. The Crimson had won five titles in a row.

Morristown-Beard senior defenseman Kathleen McNamara scored from the blue line to tie the game with 1:04 to play, after head coach Bruce Driver pulled the goaltender. Shadyside’s Rachel Khalouf scored the game-winner 2:04 into overtime, as the teams played four-on-four.

Crimson senior Kendall Cornine finished with a goal and an assist in the final. Cornine, who has signed a National Letter of Intent to play at Rochester Institute of Technology, had seven points in the two-game playoff.

Freshman Keegan Heher had a goal and two assists as Morristown-Beard defeated Princeton Day, 5-0, in the semifinal late Sunday night.

“All my years of doing this, I’m more proud of this team than anyone else, for them to battle the way they battled,” Driver said. “Our girls gutted it out and gave ourselves a chance. They played their hearts out.”
