After dropping his first set, Redwood Ranger Evan Morritse rallied in the final two to defeat El Diamante’s Tim Park 3-6, 6-1, 10-6 to capture the singles championship on Friday in the West Yosemite League tournament.
Golden West’s Stewart Bryan won third place, topping Mt. Whitney’s Nikola Cosic 8-1. In the fifth place tilt, Adam Miller, of Redwood, outlasted El Diamante’s Marshall Dinkins 8-3.
In doubles, Rangers Alex Dam and Jared Bigelow knocked off the Pioneers’ Matthew Mayes and Homer Ruiz 8-6 for third. Golden West’s Javi Gamez and Billy Torres finished fifth.
CSL Tournament: Central Valley Christian’s Bailey Gong capped a stellar regular season with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Immanuel’s Aaron Reimer in the singles championship match at the Central Sequoia League tournament.
Baseball
Hanford 7, El Diamante 0: The Miners pursuit of an outright West Yosemite League championship took a blow with a 7-0 road loss to the Hanford Bullpups on Friday.
Hanford’s Jensen Brotherton fired a no-hitter and the Bullpups scored two runs in the fifth and five in the sixth to upset the WYL-leading Miners.
El Diamante’s Blake Hernandez, Zane Thompson and Adam Munoz reached base on walks, but that was all the Miners could generate.
El Diamante (16-10, 6-2) have a crucial showdown versus Redwood (24-5, 7-2) on Wednesday at home.
Redwood 4, Hanford 0: Rickie Garcia threw a complete game to keep the Rangers in the chase for a WYL crown.
Garcia gave up seven hits, but pitched the shutout and seven strikeouts. He also went 1-for-4 hitting and had a two-run single.
Eric Charles was also strong at the plate, going 2-for-2 with two walks and a run. Kameron Trevino smashed a double and scored a run in the Rangers nine-hit attack.
Redwood (24-5, 7-2) has won six straight and can make a push for the top spot in the WYL when the Rangers play El Diamante.
Golden West 3, Hanford West 0: Troy Stainbrook fired a five-hit shutout and belted a home run in the Trailblazers’ WYL win over the Huskies.
Stainbrook struck out nine, allowing just one walk.
Golden West (10-14, 3-6) also received hits from Chase Champlin, Bryson Johnson, Michael Strawn and Josh Horton.

The Mt. Whitney baseball program helped out with Visalia’s Miracle League on April 18.
Dinuba 5, Selma 4: Israel Garcia earned the victory on the mound and drove in a run in the Emperors’ Central Sequoia League win.
Also for Dinuba (13-9, 5-6), Adrian Garza and Greg Omos each powered a hit. Sergio Hernandez recorded the save.
Softball
Redwood 10, Lemoore 0: Crimson Kaiser blasted a home run and also went the distance in the Rangers eight-hit WYL victory in Visalia.
Kaiser earned the win in the circle and improved to 14-4 on the season. The senior pitched a one-hitter in five innings and struck out five.
Alyssa Ibarra and Savanah White pounded two hits each. White also drove in three runs. Haileigh Gonzalez and Madison Montemayor both posted a base hit.

See had three RBIs, and Tumacder drove in two on two hits.

Monache 8, Tulare Union 3: The Marauders defeated the Redskins in an East Yosemite League game Thursday in Tulare.
Presley Jameson had a single and an RBI for Tulare Union (16-13, 2-4). The Redskins committed seven errors.
Immanuel 6, Exeter 5: Caitlyn Wallen threw seven strikeouts in the Monarchs’ Central Sequoia League defeat.
Immanuel scored the winning run in the seventh to break a 5-5 tie.
Taylor Hornburg and Lezi Bejarano each registred two hits with a triple and an RBI each. Vanessa Grimsley and Julie Roche also finished with two hits. Mattie Lopez knocked in two runs and Roche had one.
