A three-run fourth inning propelled Mosley (28-3) to a 5-2 victory over Citrus to earn a berth in the 5A state championship game tomorrow afternoon at JetBlue Park.
JJ Bleday’s double sparked the Dolphins rally in the fourth, as he would score on a single from pitcher Dillon Brown. Gunner Smith produced two more runs with another single with two outs. Brenden Fox’s two run double in the seventh provided insurance for Brown, who went the distance for Mosley, allowing two runs on six hits.
Citrus opened the scoring in the first on an RBI single by Brooks Brasher, who would leave the game in the third inning after a scary fall in right field chasing a fly ball. The Hurricanes added a run in the 5th, with Austin Bogart scoring on a wild pitch.
Alex Atkinson took the loss for Citrus, who ends their season at 17-10. Mosley will take on Archbishop McCarthy, who defeated Robinson (Tampa) in thrilling fashion, scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh to win 8-7 earlier in the day.
