Mountain Home’s cross country teams were on Cloud 9 after taking home several first-place finishes at the Bakersfield, Mo., Invitational held Tuesday at Cloud 9 Ranch.

Marcie Cudworth claimed a first-place finish in the junior girls’ race, and Emma Martin was second across the line. Kate Gilbert was next for Mountain Home, followed by Katie McLean, Ashlynn Martin, Emily Payne and Bella Bevel, with Payne edging Bevel by only .05 seconds.

The Junior Bombers had a perfect score, finishing first through fifth. Abe Crawford, Robert Allen, Wyatt Gilbert, Chase Blum and Brandon Morris were the top five finishers for Mountain Home.

The Lady Bombers placed all finishers in the top 20. Alexa Darracq was the top runner in 12th place, and Allie Bauwens finished in 17th.

The Bombers were the last race of the day, and Corey Queen led Mountain Home to a first-place finish by placing ninth. Davis LaRue placed 10th, and Seth Morgavan was the next Bomber to cross the line in 12th. Rounding out the top five was Ben Eggensperger and Glen Sailor.

The junior high teams travel to Willow Springs, Mo., on Oct. 1, and the senior high squads will travel to Fayetteville on Oct. 3.
