KUSA – Tuesday night was a battle between the top two girls soccer teams in the state. The ThunderRidge Grizzlies were ranked No. 1 in the state while the Mountain Vista Golden Eagles were ranked No. 2 heading into the matchup. ThunderRidge came in with a perfect record, while Mountain Vista only had two losses. Numbers didn’t matter as Mountain Vista won 4-1 at Shea Stadium in front of a big crowd.
ThunderRidge’s senior goalie Sabrina Macias had to leave the game early due to an injury with Vista leading 2-1 at the half.
Golden Eagles’ junior standout Mallory Pugh scored two goals while Megan Rumbold and Megan Massey added one each.
The Grizzlies’ only goal came from senior Jamie Brunworth in the first half.
Mountain Vista finishes the regular season with a 13-2 overall record and a perfect 10-0 in league play. Meanwhile, ThunderRidge is now 13-1, 9-1 with one game remaining. The Grizzlies will wrap up its regular season on the road against Ralston Valley on Thursday at 7pm at the NAAC.
