NASSAU, Bahamas – The MTSU basketball team moved to 2-0 in the Bahamas with an 89-71 victory over the Atlantis All-Stars on Friday night.
“I thought we got really good point guard play tonight from Jacob Ivory and Quavius Copeland,” head coach Kermit Davis said. “We have got some work to do in our man-to-man defense, but our trapping defense was really good tonight.
“Overall, it’s good to be 2-0 on this trip.”
The Blue Raiders had five players finish in double figures led by Reggie Upshaw’s 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting.
The junior also led the team with 11 rebounds.
Perrin Buford and Copeland chipped in with 17 and 12 points, respectively, and the duo was a combined 14-of-16 from the field.
Copeland added a team-best five assists to his totals.
The MTSU defense was also solid, limiting its opponent to only 21 points in the first half and a 0-for-10 mark from beyond the arc for the game.
The Blue Raiders forced 15 turnovers and dominated their opponents on the glass for the second straight night, 45 rebounds to 26.
MTSU will play one final game tomorrow night against Athletic Club Bahamas at 8 p.m. before returning to Murfreesboro on Sunday.
