NEW CONCORD – Kate Bass connected on a solo home run during a four-run fifth inning to send host John Glenn past Crooksville 10-4 in Muskingum Valley League play.
Kaitlyn Mills belted a two-run homer in the fourth for Crooksville, tying the game at 2 before the Muskies pulled away.
Bass earned the win in relief of starter Danae Fields, who allowed two runs on two hits with two strikeouts in four innings. Bass had one strikeout and one hit in relief and also singled and knocked in three runs for the Muskies, who are 2-0 in the league.
Kerrie Dolick doubled and scored twice, Taylor Hill added two singles and two runs, Lexi Baker doubled and singled, Natalie Wahl contributed two singles, two RBI and two runs scored, and Alli Hylton had two singles and two RBI in the win.
Jalynn Summerville went the distance in the loss, allowing 14 hits, fanning three and walking two, and Jamesca Davis hit two doubles and knocked in a run for the Ceramics (0-2 MVL).
