Myers Park blasts Rocky River in conference opener

MINT HILL, N.C. — Myers Park softball earned two victories Wednesday, defeating Rocky River and the weather in both teams’ Southwestern 4A Conference opener, a 17-2 tilt in favor of the Mustangs.

Myers Park pitcher Sarah Rowan was sensational, pitching a complete game over five innings, striking out 9 Rocky River batters. Rowan limited the Ravens to just 3 hits over the course of the game.

Three Mustang hitters had multiple hits in the game, led by Anne McBride’s 2 RBI. Junior Alana Ashurst was just 1-4 at the plate, but picked up a double and scored two runs in the game. Freshman Tabitha Formon showed her ability to contribute, going 2-3 with three runs scored and 1 RBI.

Myers Park is scheduled to host Butler on Friday at 5:30.
