Former Erwin quarterback Robbie Nallenweg continues to lead the Indoor Football League in passing and went over the 1,000-yard mark in his latest game for the Iowa Barnstormers.
Nallenweg has completed 106 of his 177 throws for 1,194 yards and 21 touchdowns with 10 interceptions. He had 256 yards and four touchdowns with one interception in Saturday’s home opener for Iowa – a 75-64 win over the Green Bay Blizzard.
The next game for the Barnstormers (2-3) is Saturday at home against the Nebraska Danger. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
Nallenweg graduated from Erwin in 2009. He has previously played indoor football in the Champions Profession Indoor Football League and the Lone Star Football League.
Back in high school, Nallenweg threw for a Western North Carolina-best 2,713 yards as a senior in 2008. He then passed for more than 5,000 career yards in college at Wingate.
