Neenah High School soccer player Alyssa Barnes has earned a spot among the best high school players in the state this season.
Barnes, a junior midfielder, has been named as one of the “Best of the Rest” players on the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association all-state team.
Barnes was the only player from schools in The Post-Crescent Media circulation area to be named to the list.
Senior goalkeeper Cassidy Lentz of WIAA Division 3 state champion Catholic Memorial and junior forward Dani Rhodes of Waukesha West were named the WSCA’s co-players of the year.
Jada Dayne, a junior defender from Waunakee, is the only repeat player from 2014 on the all-state first team, which is called the “First 11.”
The rest of the first team includes forwards Maria Kass of Divine Savior Holy Angels and Kylie Sprecher of Menomonee Falls, midfielders Eden Charles of DSHA, Kelsey Jahn of Oregon and Julia Zach of Kettle Moraine, and defenders Amanda Durst of DSHA, Jenny Fischer of Muskego and Gabi Kitchell of D.C.
