Fossil Ridge High School graduate Bailey Nero took second in the 100 butterfly at the U.S. Junior National Championships. She also finished eighth in the 200 butterfly, 10th in the 400 IM and 11th in the 200 IM.

Two local girls swimmers placed high at the 2015 Speedo Junior National Championships.

Fossil Ridge High School graduate Bailey Nero took second in the 100 butterfly in a time of 29.62 while swimming for the Fort Collins Area Swim Team (FAST).

She also finished eighth in the 200 butterfly (2:14.13), 10th in the 400 IM (4:54.89) and 11th in the 200 IM (2:18.80).

Nero graduated in May and will swim in college at Auburn. In helping the SaberCats win a Class 5A title her senior year she won state titles in the 200 IM, 100 butterfly and 200 medley relay and 400 free relay teams.

Zoe Bartel, also swimming for FAST, took seventh in the 200 breaststroke in 2:33.37 and 12th in the 100 breaststroke in 1:11.67.

As a freshman at Fossil Ridge Bartel finished fourth at state in the 50 free and fourth in the 100 free. She was also on the title-winning 400 free relay team.

The junior championships ran July 30-Aug. 3 in San Antonio, Texas.
