Lance Bristol is the new athletic director at Andrews.

The new athletic director at Andrews is a name familiar in Cherokee County sports.

Former Murphy baseball coach Lance Bristol is already an assistant principal for the Wildcats.

He led the Bulldogs to a 88-27 record in five seasons before resigning in 2011. Murphy’s 2010 team went 23-1, which earned Bristol the Citizen-Times All-WNC Coach of the Year award.

Bristol’s new role at Andrews means that he replaces outgoing A.D. Dane Rickett, who resigned to become an assistant principal at Andrews Elementary School.
