Today (Monday) the South Carolina High School League (SCHSL) released the proposed region realignment and expansion to five classifications for high school sports beginning in 2016-17.
The expansion to five classifications is a first for high school sports in South Carolina, though the realignment process takes place regularly every two years based on new schools and enrollment numbers, among other factors.
The list is preliminary; schools may now appeal if they choose. A final version will be voted on by the SCHSL on Sept. 17.
