Former Owen baseball standout Steven Hensley recently agreed to a minor-league contract with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

The 2005 Warhorses graduate has a career record of 34-33 with 11 saves, a 4.21 earned-run average and 482 strikeouts in 577 innings pitched. Hensley was with the Baltimore Orioles organization last year and was 3-1 with five saves.

Hensley, 28, played college baseball for Elon and was drafted out of high school by Seattle.

Most recently, the right-hander was the closer for Venados de Mazatlan out of the Mexican Winter League and racked up nine saves with a 2.53 ERA in 20 appearances.

Hensley left Monday for the Venezuela Winter League where he is playing for Navegantes del Magallanes before reporting to the Angels.
