Work on a new artificial turf field at Reynolds is coming along nicely.

The Rockets athletic department tweeted out the above photo on Thursday which shows the turf being laid down inside Dalton Stadium.

The $400,000 project is expected to be complete by Aug. 1 which is the first official day of practice for statewide NCHSAA fall sports teams.

Reynolds was the first Western North Carolina school to get an artificial turf field in 2005. The replacement is part of a long-range plan by Buncombe County Schools to invest more than $5 million in its athletic facilities, BCS Assistant Superitendent Robbie Adell said in June.
