How do you know your college decision is a big deal? When prominent basketball alums of two rival schools engage in a Twitter beef based just on where you decided to go.

The above scenario played itself out on Sunday at the Nike EYBL Peach Jam in North Augusta, S.C. Moments after Jayson Tatum, the nation’s No. 2 overall prospect, announced he would attend Duke, former North Carolina point guard  Kendall Marshall tweeted this:

As it was, Marshall’s tweet was relatively innocuous enough. Apparently that still wasn’t quite enough for Nolan Smith, who decided the time was right to pile on.

That’s solid twitter trolling, Nolan Smith. Of course, given Duke’s rise in recruiting rankings, it’s probably no surprise that Coach Krzyzewski and his staff continue to pull in many of the nation’s top prospects. All of which means Marshall will probably have to become more comfortable with both these decisions and Smith lingering out there in the internet ether, waiting for Marshall to let down his guard.
