No. 1 Central Catholic sweeps Rossville

Dominating performances from Belle Kendrick and Kiana Fields helped Class A No. 1 Central Catholic sweep Rossville 25-13, 25-8, 25-9 Thursday night in high school volleyball.

Kendrick served 10 aces among her 18 points. Fields had seven kills on .700 hitting for the Knights (28-0). Kendrick completed her unusual double-double with 12 assists.

The Falcons earned the top seed for Saturday’s Hoosier Heartland Conference tournament thanks to a 19-25, 25-18, 25-21, 14-25, 15-12 victory.

Riley Woods had a match-high 14 kills and Emma DeWitt added 10 for Frontier (22-3). Savanna Harrison served seven aces and collected 14 blocks.

Lauren Worl led the Cougars (22-3) with 13 kills while hitting .310 and 11 digs. Megan Herr added nine kills with the help of Grace Filbrun’s 18 assists. Libby Eller collected 27 digs and Elizabeth Eurit picked up 19.

Rensselaer 3

Maddie Gehring and Emily Barber each put down nine kills for the Bombers in their 25-23, 25-19, 25-22 victory.

Madeline Barber and Emily Barber teamed up for 11 blocks. Regan Rodibaugh and Jordyn Spanger set up the offense for Rensselaer (10-10) with a combined 23 assists.

Hannah Ball led a balanced North White (13-14) attack with nine kills. Chloe Cassel and Audrey Minix had seven kills each.

Kassie Hunt had 10 kills and Danielle Gaumer 22 digs for the Indians (8-11) in their 25-16, 25-17, 25-15 loss.

Covington 3

Crawfordsville 0

Brooke Ahrens had 19 kills, 22 digs and four aces for the Trojans (24-3) in their 25-21, 25-18, 25-19 victory.

Maddie Bolser had 31 digs to lead the Covington defense. Esther Bridwell and Corrissa Remter added seven and six kills, respectively.
