Class A No. 1 Central Catholic continued its undefeated season, outlasting Hamilton Heights 22-25, 25-20, 25-23 to capture the Hoosier Conference volleyball championship Saturday.
Kiana Fields led a balanced hitting attack for the Knights (31-0) with nine kills in addition to five blocks. Allison Tharp added eight and Libby Bonner seven for CC.
Fields had 10 kills on .714 hitting in the Knights’ sweep of Tipton and eight kills in the sweep of Cass.
Benton Central went 2-2 on the day, including victories over Delphi and West Lafayette. Taylor McKinney had 21 kills and 44 digs on the day for the Bison (17-10).
Twin Lakes (10-13) went 2-2 on the day, getting 30 kills and seven blocks from Kassie Hunt.
Muncie Central swept McCutcheon 25-13, 25-18 to capture the North Central Conference volleyball championship Saturday at Harrison.
Harrison finished fourth in the 10-team North Central Conference tournament, topping Anderson before losing to Muncie Central and Richmond.
Setter Sam Ulrich had 60 assists and eight aces on the day for the Raiders (9-17), who finished second in the NCC West Division during the regular season. Mei Nakazaki served seven aces, and Kadie Hawks led the defense with 40 digs. Riley Vedder and Kiley Marshall led Harrison’s attack with 13 and 11 kills, respectively.
Lafayette Jeff (8-17) finished eighth, topping Indianapolis Tech before falling to Muncie Central, Anderson and Kokomo. Against Tech, Baylee Smith served four aces and Samantha Preston knocked down four kills.
Hoosier Heartland Conference
Riley Woods had 11 kills and two blocks to lead Frontier to the championship with a 25-14, 25-17 victory over Carroll.
Emma DeWitt added seven kills, and Savanna Harrison was strong at the net with eight solo blocks for the Falcons (25-3). Maddie Sailors and DeWitt led the defense with 20 and 18 digs, respectively.
Grace Filbrun and Lauren Worl had three kills apiece for Carroll (24-4). Libby Eller collected 22 digs.
Clinton Prairie (16-14) went 2-1 on the day, getting five kills from Britney Calder in a sweep of Rossville.
Covington took third place, overcoming a loss to Covenant Christian by defeating Greencastle, Cloverdale and Clay City.
Brooke Ahrens had 44 kills and 47 digs for the day for the Trojans (27-4). Madison Karrfalt set up the offense with 56 assists while Maddie Bolser had 70 digs and eight aces. Corrissa Remter contributed 19 kills and four blocks.
Twin Lakes senior Madeline Lilly captured her fourth consecutive Hoosier Conference individual championship while leading the Indians to the team title.
Lilly won in 18 minutes, 32 seconds, five seconds ahead of Benton Central’s Cara Hasser. Twin Lakes’ Maggie Gutwein was third in 18:44. The Indians outpointed North Montgomery 40-68.
Southmont’s Brooks Long was the boys race in 16:32 but runner-up Conner Million led Seeger to the team championship with 63 points, four fewer than Fountain Central.
