Montverde’s (Montverde, Fla.) Ben Simmons has withdrawn from the Jordan Brand Classic at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. on April 17.

“I’ve decided not to play in the Jordan game,” Simmons said. “I want to turn my focus to finishing my senior year and preparing for my next step at LSU.”

It’s relative; for the last three weeks, Simmons, the consensus No. 1 overall player in the 2015 class, has racked up significant frequent flyer miles.

First, it was Chicago for the McDonald’s All American Game the weekend of March 29, where his East squad eventually won over the West, 111-91. After that he went directly to New York City on April 2 to lead the Eagles to their third-straight DICK’S Sporting Goods High School Nationals title, and this past weekend he was in Portland scoring 13 points, grabbing nine rebounds and dishing out nine assists to help the World Select Team knockoff Team USA, 103-101, at the Nike Hoop Summit.

Simmons, a 6-foot-10 forward who is signed to LSU, was named ALL-USA Player of the Year after averaging 28 points, 11.9 rebounds four assists a game this season.
