No. 13 Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth) is heading back to Southern California with the championship of the Iolani Classic after knocking off No. 3 La Lumiere (La Porte, Ind.) in the title game.
Sierra Canyon (9-1) came back from a 12-point deficit and a seven-point deficit after three quarters for a 53-48 victory in the title game after beating No. 17 Lone Peak (Highland, Utah) in the semifinals.
Cody Riley was named the tournament Most Valuable Player and Devearl Ramsey, a four-star Nevada commit, had a game-high 25.
It was an interesting four days in the islands for La Lumiere. The Lakers opened with a 74-33 victory against Dongguan Guangming from China, needed overtime to beat The Masters Academy (Oviedo, Fla.) by an 81-72 score and then got into a slowdown game with Fairfax (Los Angeles) for a 29-20 semifinal victory.
Fairfax picked up the pace a little bit in the third-place game and beat Lone Peak, 44-40, behind Ethan Anderson’s 13 points.
