A strong first half start from No. 18 Manchester led to a 51-42 Shore Conference first round win over No. 15 Toms River North on Wednesday. The Hawks jumped out to a 20-11 lead after the first quarter, taking a nine point lead into halftime.
Anissa Fucci led the way for the Hawks, scoring a game-high 22 points in the win. Lyric Green added 13 points and Dejah Adams also netted eight points for the Hawks.
Christina Ribuado and Ashley Tutzauer each scored seven points for the Mariners.
The Hawks will travel to No. 2 Manasquan on Thursday for a second round matchup.
In other SCT first round games
Southern 62, Asbury Park 40: Gabby Davis scored a team-high 16 points leading the No. 9 Rams over the No. 24 Bishops in a SCT first round game. Tierny Goetz scored eight of her 11 points in the first half and Morgan Henderson also added 14 points in the win for the Rams.
The Rams will play at No. 8 Holmdel on Thursday at 6 p.m.
Donovan Catholic 60, Ranney 21: Chelsea Crowe became the ninth player in Donovan Catholic history to score 1,000 points, while also leading the No. 10 Griffins to a SCT first round victory over the No. 23 Panthers. Crowe scored a game-high 29 points along with five steals and three assists.
Alyssa Hirschy added 10 points and Kaitlyn Borghesi scored 6 points along with three assists for the Griffins who will play at No. 7 Neptune on Thursday.
Point Boro 74, Mater Dei Prep 55: Lindsey Havens and Megan Hughes each scored 24 points leading the No. 13 Panthers over the No. 20 Seraphs. Along with her 24 points Havens added six rebounds and seven assists, and Hughes also pulled down five rebounds.
Emily Henn scored nine points and Brianna Skinner also added eight points and six rebounds for the Panthers who will travel to No. 4 Rumson-FH in the next round.
Freehold Township 56, Long Branch 43: Sam Famulare scored a game-high 27 points and six rebounds leading the No. 11 Patriots over the No. 22 Green Wave. Tori Wagner added 16 points and eight rebounds for the Patriots in the win.
Che’Kasha Andrews and Angelique Gathers each scored 15 points for the Green Wave who were with in one point in the fourth quarter. The Patriots will play at No. 6 Red Bank Catholic in the next round.
Marlboro 36, Toms River East 31: Nicole Shatsky and Molly Weiss each scored 10 points leading the No. 12 Mustangs past the No. 21 Raiders. The Mustangs will play at No. 5 Midd. South in a second round game.
Ocean 36, Central 29: Danielle DeFillippo and Luciana Thomas each scored 14 points leading the No. 16 Spartans over the No. 17 Golden Eagles. The Spartans will play at No. 1 St. Rose in a second round matchup.
