USA TODAY High School Sports No. 3 St. John Bosco took care of business on Friday, routing Bishop Amat 63-10 to earn a spot in the the Pac-5 title game against No. 7 Corona Centennial, a fellow victor on Friday night.
Quarterback Quentin Davis had three first half touchdowns and the Bosco defense added three turnovers returned for touchdowns as well as Bosco rushed to a dominant edge and held off a game Amat squad that kept the game tight through most of the first quarter — Bosco didn’t score until there was just 4:05 remaining in the period — but was overmatched once the floodgates opened. The one-sided victory was witnessed by an estimated crowd of 12,000 at Cerritos College and advance to the matchup with Centennial at Anaheim Stadium, home of the Angels.
As for Bosco’s players, there was little question that they played with a bit of a chip on their shoulder Friday night:
