42. ACADIANA’S KEVIN MOORE

It was quite possibly the most unlikely state championship story in the history of the Acadiana area.

His Wreckin’ Rams were struggling along offensively, turning the ball over at an alarming rate going into week 10 of the regular season. Just desiring to have good leadership at the quarterback position, if nothing else, AHS coach Ted Davidson made the decision to move star linebacker Kevin Moore to the quarterback position.

It works like a charm. Moore and the Rams’ offense put up 42 points in that week 10 win over New Iberia and never looked back in rolling to the program’s fourth state title.

In 2015, the fun is going to be watching Moore return to his role as a full-time linebacker. That’s the plan anyway with Myles Hutchinson taking over as the starting quarterback.

Your ultimate guide to prep football in Acadiana

As a linebacker, this upper Division I recruit collected 125 tackles, 33 assists, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, 11 tackles for loss, four interceptions, two sacks, four pass breakups and one defensive touchdown last season.

Questions remain about the Rams’ offense, so Moore’s leadership remains a major need for Acadiana High.
