We know you have read this before, but Katy (Texas) did not allow any points Friday.
Ranked No. 8 in the Super 25, Katy posted its ninth shutout of the season with a 66-0 domination of Friendswood in the a 6A-II region semifinal in Houston.
“I expect them to play well,” coach Gary Joseph said afterward, and with good reason.
Katy has posted shutouts in six of its last seven games and outscored its opponents by a total of 671-38 in 13 games. Twenty of those points allowed came last week against Cypress Ranch, so that is 18 points allowed in 12 games.
Friday, Katy allowed just 38 yards and three first downs in the first half. By game’s end, Friendswood had just 91 yards. The defense sacked Friendswood QB Tyler Page eight times.
Clearly, Katy is impressing folks beyond just high school football.
For Katy, Garett Doiron threw for 202 yards and three touchdowns on 10 attempts. The longest of the TD passes was 78 yards to Juan Carlos Santana.
Army All-American Kyle Porter had 13 carries for 135 yards. Freshman Deiondre Glass had 99 yards, including TDs runs of 71 and 16 yards, on four carries.
Katy will face Manvel or Strake Jesuit next week.
