If you were a Southern Lab fan, this one wasn’t pretty. The Kittens started with game with the ball, but it was all downhill from there.

No. 9 IMG Academy rolled Southern Lab Friday night, 42-0, with 35 points coming in the first half.

IMG’s Elvis Hines Jr. led the Ascender defense to their first shutout of the season. Hines also led the offense, taking back an interception for a touchdown on the games opening drive.

After one of many Southern Lab punts, a long drive set up a Shea Patterson-to-Isaac Nauta touchdown. The nation’s No. 1 quarterback connected again on the next drive, this time with IMG’s big time playmaker Drake Davis.

The Ascenders ended the first half with a 21-0 lead, and they never looked back.

The second half didn’t start much better for Southern Lab.

Adding insult to injury, Southern Lab would take over after an IMG punt return miscue. But they wouldn’t take over for long. Hines picked off his second pass of the game, setting up IMG for yet another scoring drive.

This time, Tony Jones would punch in a touchdown, giving IMG a 35-0 lead at the half.

Louis Colosimo entered the game at QB for the Ascenders, taking over the game for Patterson who had yet another stellar performance.

The final score came from Jordan Anthony, giving IMG their fourth 40-plus point performance of the season.

The Ascenders will be back on the field in two weeks against Rashan Gary and Paramus Catholic (N.J.)
